Blueberry Delight
Blueberry delight is what I think when I want a super easy, no-fuss, no-moss dessert. With only three ingredients, this dessert does not need much explanation.
Blueberry Delight is The perfect dessert for all your summer gatherings. But why stop there?
Fresh blueberries are covered with a thick layer of ricotta cheese and then sprinkled with brown sugar. Broil and the top sugar will melt and start to bubble.
You cannot wait to bite into the soft berries, which have softened with the broiler’s heat. The ricotta is sugary and to perfection.
I enjoy preparing this fresh blueberry dessert in ramekins for each of us.
However, if you do not have ramekins, use a large baking dish and let everyone scoop out what they want.
What do blueberries do for your body?
Blueberries are packed with antioxidants. High in potassium and vitamin C. They also contain dietary fiber.
They are considered superfoods.
Cultivated blueberries are sweeter than those grown wild. However, they share the same deep blue-purple color, thin translucent skin, and tiny seeds.
Here are a few helpful tips for the ingredients needed to make this blueberry delight recipe
This is a quick introduction. Please read the recipe for complete instructions.
Blueberries: Clean them beforehand and remove any small stems that may still be attached.
Ricotta cheese: Use whole milk for a rich texture.
Brown sugar: When the sugar is exposed to heat, the solid crystals melt and turn brown, giving us a rich aroma.
Equipment needed
My favorite part of this dessert is that you will not have to mess up your kitchen and only use two tools:
Spoon: spread the ricotta all over the fruits
Ramekins or gratin dish: place your blueberries and serve them in them. The higher the border of your ramekins is, the cooler your fruits will stay, as the broiler’s heat will not be able to reach without burning the sugar, which is what you are avoiding to do.
Cookie sheet: place the ramekin over it, place them in the oven, and take them out with ease.
What is ricotta cheese?
Ricotta is an Italian cheese from sheep, cow, goat, or Italian Buffalo milk whey left over from other cheese production.
Thick and creamy texture with a neutral flavor. Due to the neutral flavor, ricotta works beautifully in sweets, as well as with savory dishes.
Italian use it often in classic recipes such as lasagna, manicotti, ravioli, and other types of pasta.
In desserts, it has a lot of uses; the most common is filling cannoli or as a layer cake filling.
Always a great idea to have a container in your refrigerator. You never know when you can add it to your cooking.
